I started wearing 2 sports bras to use as a binder and I think it caused a rash?

Justin asked:

Well, I fall somewhere under the transgender umbrella and I started wearing one sports bra over top of the other one as a sort of makeshift binder. I’ve been doing this for about 3 months. Now the space between my breasts is red and itchy and has very tiny breakouts. Do you think it is because I am not letting my chest ”breathe” enough from wearing 2 bras? Do you know anything I could put on it to help? Thanks in advance.

I used to do that and it did not cause a rash. But that might be because I was just lucky. Maybe the bras stretch the breasts in a funny way? Try looking into products intended to bind breasts; they’ll probably flatten more effectively and maybe are less likely to cause rashes. msm

Rashes are a relatively common consequence of binding. The only thing that might really help eliminate them is getting an actual binder from an online retailer. The rash is probably caused by the material rubbing against your skin. Sweating makes rashes worse. Try getting a topical anesthetic lotion, which you can find at any drugstore. You want a lotion that will ‘numb’ the itchiness and irritation of the rash until it can heal. Scratching at it will only make it worse. smart is sexy

That could be the problem. The increased number and thickness of layers could be preventing the sin from breathing. It would be a good idea to stick to just one when you’re at home and sleeping.

You probably don’t need to hear this, but I’d definitely recommend getting a real binder. Just make sure you do research and read reviews first as they are pricey and you don’t want to get the wrong size. The Taste of Rain

This happens to me if I wear a sports bra in general. I usually use Vaseline lotion to reduce the redness and if it itches. Take off the binding when at home to let your chest breathe. Also, I find that using binding shirts is more effective, and I don’t get rashes as often.

    =D Hope this helps! Jordan
